You’ve somehow landed on the person blog site for Gary, aka Dusty. I’m a long-time high-tech software development veteran who spent years with companies like Electronic Data Systems, General Motors (Tech Center), Hewlett Packard, and DXC. These days you’ll find me living off-grid on 40 acres of beautiful land in the Virginia City Highlands, just outside of Reno, Nevada.

I spend my days building things, working on equipment, diving into local history, and programming microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, etc) and IoT devices for automation projects around the ranch. When I’m not tinkering, I’m in my greenhouse, out walking the hills with my trusty dog Poppy, having a drink with friends at the Old Corner Bar in Virginia City, doing E Clampus Vitus activities all over the place, or soaking in my custom cowboy hot tub.
This is a private blog for family and friends, so if you check those boxes feel free to register. I will get an email, with your request, and I just might give you access…
